Celiacos.org

This website is a great resource for celiacs who are traveling gluten free through Spain. It is informational in nature-providing up to date information on what organizations exist and what measures are being taken to make dining out and buying products in stores safe for celiacs as well as providing suggestions for celiac travelers.

They are associated with FACE ( Federación de Asociacones de Celiacos en España) who offer a booklet listing all ‘safe to purchase’ products and give you information on how to contact the org to order your booklet. The email for the org is: info@celiacos.org

FACE also has a mobile app that you can download (it is suggested to do so before you travel to Spain if you are a celiac).

Celiacs de Catalunya

A resource for those living or traveling gluten-free in the Catalunya region of Spain. You can look up all kinds of information here including lists of restaurants, pharmacies and shops with gluten free items.

Legal Nomad’s Essential Guide to Gluten-Free Spain

These guys have put together some pretty great tips for traveling as a celiac in Spain including lists of supermarkets, lists of traditional Spanish dishes that are typically gluten free naturally and what questions you should ask before ordering and specially designed gluten-free translation cards.

Gluten Free Apps

Find Me Gluten Free this isn’t a Spain specific app, it’s an app that originated in the U.S but now covers much of the world. Always worth checking your location here first to see whether the region you are in is well covered or not. Like most gluten free apps it works best in larger cities (like Madrid or Barcelona) versus off-the-beaten-path areas.

Gluten Free Roads by Schar a great app from gluten-free giant Schar designed to help you find the nearest hotel with gluten free meals, supermarket offering gluten-free products, restaurant offering gluten free meals, gluten-free pizza spots, bakeries etc. This app started out covering businesses in Italy and Germany but has now grown to cover more countries and regions. Like most locator apps it works better if you are in a major city.

Cervezas Sin Gluten an app that helps you find places to buy or enjoy gluten free beer! Also just a great way to check which brands make gluten-free beer so you can keep a list and look out for them.

mobiCeliac an app that allows you to use your phone to scan barcodes of products and confirm safety
