Hood River is one of the most charming cities in the Columbia Gorge. There are a variety of hotels in Hood River ranging from casual to fun and trendy, mid-range, and higher-end. Here are a few of my favorite hotels in Hood River Oregon, with options to fit every price range.
Hood River Hotel
When it comes to hotels in Hood River that have loads of charm, character, and history, I recommend the Hood River Hotel. This historic hotel is located in the heart of downtown Hood River, so you can easily walk to all the best attractions. The rooms are spacious with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay and the entire hotel is stylishly and uniquely decorated in a retro/Victorian/lodge style (yes.. it sounds impossible but they’ve really pulled it off!). It’s fun to walk around and check out the different antique furniture, wall hangings, and trophys. The hotel also has an on-site Scandinavian restaurant that’s quite popular with guests, especially during ski season, and often features live music by local musicians. *During ski-season, Hood River Hotel also serves as a ski-pass sales point.
Inn at the Gorge
For a cozy getaway, book a suite at the Inn at the Gorge, a quaint Craftsman-style bungalow Bed and Breakfast where you’ll be treated to elegant surroundings, large rooms and suites, luxury linens and furnishings, and charming period touches such as claw foot bathtubs. The Inn also features a hot tub, a full American breakfast, and offers a choice between rooms and suites that feature kitchenettes (for those who like to stock up on picnic foods before hitting the local trails, or maybe just to chill your wine and cheese!)
Best Western Plus [The Best Upscale Chain Hotel in Hood River]
If you’re looking for an upscale yet relatively affordable place to stay in Hood River, near the water, I recommend the Best Western Plus Hood River Inn. This hotel is just minutes from downtown Hood River and has a great restaurant on-site that offers waterfront seating and views (breakfast with a view anyone?).
The Society Hotel-Bingen
While the Society Hotel isn’t technically in Hood River it’s just minutes from downtown and is conveniently located just blocks away from the famous White Salmon Baking Co. one of the best places to grab freshly baked bread, pastries, breakfast, or lunch in the area. The Society Hotel has a hip, fun, and trendy but comfortable vibe with a cafe on site that sports a large lounge with book-lined walls and a crackling fireplace and upscale hostel-like rooms as well as private cabins.
Rooms at The Society Hotel generally cost between $150-$500 depending upon whether you’re booking a bed in one of the dormitory rooms, a private room with a shared bath, a private room and bath, or a private cabin.
Columbia Gorge Inn and Spa
For a higher-end option, the Columbia Gorge Inn and Spa provide a luxurious retreat with stunning views of the gorge. This hotel is located just outside of downtown, so you can enjoy a peaceful and relaxing stay. The rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed, with all the amenities you need for a luxurious stay.
Columbia Cliff Villas
For a touch of luxury on the cliffs, the Columbia Cliff Villas awaits, perched on the edge of a 200 foot cliff overlooking the Columbia Gorge. Located on the banks of the Columbia River, with stunning birds eye views of the gorge, the Villas offer modern, stylish, and comfortable rooms (many with fireplaces and/or kitchens). There’s a pool and hot tub area for relaxing after a long day of skiing or exploring Hood River. A ski pass vendor and a 24-hour front desk and concierge services are provided at this luxury property.
West Cliff Lodge (Dog-Friendly)
For a slightly more remote, woodsy feel and a family-friendly, dog-friendly acommodation option, the West Cliff Lodge, located on 5 wooded acres overlooking the Columbia River is a great choice. The rooms offer eco-friendly toiletries and the property features a children’s playground and a picnic area. Some rooms offer views of the Columbia River and guests have the option of selecting suites that include other amenities such as full kitchens and spa baths.
Budget-Friendly Hood River Hotel Options
The Hampton Inn and Suites
For a budget-friendly option, try the Hampton Inn & Suites in Hood River. This hotel is located just a few blocks from downtown, so you can easily walk to all the best shops and restaurants. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with plenty of amenities to make your stay enjoyable.
Whether you’re looking for a casual or upscale experience, Hood River has a hotel to fit your needs. I hope this list of hotels in Hood River Oregon helps you plan your next trip to this fantastic destination.
