Travel Clubs and Tours for Over-50 Travelers
When it comes to finding tour groups that cater to senior women travelers there aren’t as many options. So why not consider travel groups or clubs for seniors and tour businesses that cater to 55+ travelers (i.e. they don’t limit tours to only women). The following tour companies and travel clubs focus on 50+ or 55+ travelers and offer a lot of amazing options.
Freebird Club
Freebird Club is a 50+ peer-to-peer social and travel community where members can connect, share travel tips, arrange meet-ups, book affordable homestays with other members (private rooms, guest cottages, etc.), and embark on inspiring adventures together. Built for Over-50 travelers seeking to meet like-minded people, share knowledge, and embrace new adventures, Freebird Club is a members-only club and community with accommodation and connection options built-in, versus just-a-social forum or tour company.
Firebird Tours
Catering specifically to individuals aged 50 and above, Firebird Tours specializes in organizing small-group excursions to various destinations in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, emphasizing value, comfort, and quality. Their guided tours revolve around diverse themes such as gastronomy, history, architecture, the Northern Lights, as well as theater and opera.
Adventures Abroad
Adventures Abroad’s Active Tours are designed for active Seniors and provide a great mix of city and nature journeys, all paced comfortably. Specifically tailored for those over 50, these tours come with precise details on walking distances and durations, presenting a refreshing twist to conventional travel experiences. Tours are offered in 120 countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America, and beyond.
They can also tailor Custom Tours to travelers’ specific needs and preferences. Their Adventures Abroad packages, are available for durations between 7 to 45 days. These “gentle adventure” excursions delve into the cultural, historical, and scenic facets of destinations. With adaptable tour options, 50+ Travelers can choose between brief visits or more extended journeys based on their timelines.
Walking Adventures International (Small Group Tour Company)
Walking Adventures International is a family-owned and operated tour business that focuses on planning unique tours for over-50 travelers. Submit a form letting them know which destination (s) you are interested in and if they have enough interest from people for that destination, they’ll plan the trip. They individualize the experience so that travelers have a lot of input into what tours they lead. For example, if you are interested in a specific trip you can put a refundable ‘Early Bird deposit’ down on a trip, and then if enough people don’t sign up your deposit is refunded. But, if the minimum # of travelers sign up, the trip will go ahead.
Walking Adventures does the research, selects the hiking trails and city walk itineraries, books the hotels and transportation, and lines up activities for the group.
Walking the World (Tour Company)
Based in Grand Junction, Colorado, Walking the World specializes in walking and hiking tours, catering primarily to individuals aged 50 and above (though they don’t technically limit by age group) who seek an immersive travel experience. From Ireland and Italy to National Parks in the U.S. or Canada, there’s a tour that is sure to inspire your wanderlust. Why not meet other travelers through one of the social groups above, and join a tour together?
