If you have never been to Provence in Southern France, you don’t know what you’re missing! The farther South you go in France (as in Italy) the warmer the weather and the people get. The pace of life is slower and more relaxed. There is more kissing (you will get three kisses on the cheek in greeting vs the more standard two you get in other parts of France). The menus expand to include lighter fare and plenty of seafood (although there is no shortage of heavy, red meat, saucy dishes and rich cheeses…!). The vin rosé flows like water and the richer red wines of Chateauneuf du Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras are mouth watering and plentiful.
From driving through picturesque hilltop villages and visiting historic architectural sites to tasting wine with local winemakers and enjoying long Provencale style dinners and lunches, experiencing Provence is magical. Experiencing it with a group of passionate people who love travel, food, wine, and new cultures, history, and languages is even better. And doing so like a local is the only way to go.
